Adulting Sucks, But Consumers Advocate Makes It Suck Less

Hello again, friends! Happy Monday to you all!

I don’t do this all too often, but I wanted to hop on today to just sort of talk to you about an annoying adulting stage in my life I recently went through - primarily to vent, but also to share with you an amazing new resource that I discovered along the way.

We all know that getting older means more responsibilities and more expenses. Whoopie. 😒😒 But what most of us don’t know is how to go about getting those things in order for ourselves when our parents inevitably send our ships out to sea without their help - I sure as hell know that I don’t.

A few weeks back my wonderful parents rang me up to inform me that my car insurance was up on my Mini Mo and I was going to be repsonsible for finding my new policy. Yep, anyone else been in that boat? It sucks. I didn’t know the FIRST THING about car insurance, let alone how much to pay for a policy or where even to find one! What even is PLPD, anyway?

Annoyed, I put it off until the VERY LAST SECOND because that’s always how I handle things that I don’t want to do. Time went on and I was quickly running out of time to do proper research and get a policy before my old one ran out - I was in full panic-mode. I had LITERALLY ONE DAY LEFT before my old insurance went bye-bye I was up the creek without the proverbial paddle (or policy), I should say.

Ever have something happen to you that you’re sure is the universe sending you a little nugget of help because your sub-conscious was clearly dying for it? Well, it was like the car-insurance gods were smiling upon me because at that very time, I received a note in my inbox about a great resource for all things adulting called - Consumers Advocate. I had been asked to take a look at the site for a collaboration on a blog post with the company having absolutely no idea how opportune their timing was.

In and amongst my many hours of searching online for insurance quotes - essentially going around and around in circles and not really accomplishing much except signing myself up for every irritating telemarketing phone call possible - I had actually stumbled upon this site a few days beforehand, but not paid all that much attention. Returning the second time, I took another look at their article on the 10 Best Car Insurance Providers of 2019, which ended up giving me a TON of helpful information and actually sent me in the direction of my now insurance provider who I had found on their list! I was nervous to commit to such a big expense with the little amount of knowledge I previously had on the subject, but thanks to my many Google searches and Consumers Advocate, I felt much more prepared to purchase insurance to keep my Mini and me safe.

Upon further investigation, I found that Consumers Advocate has so many other helpful articles on everything from moving companies to yoga mats. Not that I personally care too much about yoga mats, but still, where has this site been my entire adult life?

Adulting is hard, but with great companies out there like Consumers Advocate working to make our lives a little easier, it doesn’t have to be so bad.

This is a massive thank you to my friends over at CA for helping me with one of the more stressful tasks I’ve encountered in 2019. I appreciate your wisdom and advice more than I can explain! And no, this post isn’t sponsored, I just wanted to share for all my fellow millennials out there stumbling their way through early adulthood. We can do it together, friends. Trust me.
