They Got Me (Ordering *Trendy* Clothes from MissPap for the First Time)

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a sucker for a social media ad or an influencer sponsorship and I don’t even mind. Some of my FAVORITE purchases of all time have come from some Instagram girly or some random brand account somewhere serving me an ad - and this impulse purchase was no different.

Lately I’ve been obsessed with fashion-related content on YouTube. A few weeks back one of my current fav YouTubers Lucy Ledgeway was doing a closet clean out - those are some of my all-time favorite videos to watch - and I fell in love with her personal style and almost all of the items in her wardrobe. As she was going through each piece, I made note of the brands that recurringly came up and nearly all of them were those *trendy* online retailers that all the Insta girlies are always talking about like White Fox Boutique, Missguided, and the one that I decided to try: MissPap.

Now, let me start off by giving a little but important disclaimer. I am not normally one to shop fast fashion brands. More than half of my wardrobe is second-hand or thrifted and when I do purchase things brand new, I try to source the more sustainable options when I can. I also keep the items in my closet for years upon years - some things I’ve had for five to ten years at this point. So, I do recommend others try their best to shop sustainably as much as they can, but I am also aware that the majority of our planet’s environmental issues are not caused by one person making a purchase from a fast fashion brand, so I decided to take the plunge and go for it.

I spent forever comparing the websites of all trendy brands I could think of and came to the conclusion that the shopping experience on MissPap and their own style aesthetic was my favorite. All of their pieces were in neutral colors (which I own very little of) and were so feminine and I felt would really flatter my body type. I don’t currently own anything even remotely similar to the things on their site, so I knew these new pieces would be filling a void in my wardrobe. For reference, I’m 5’3” and a pretty solid U.S. size 8 with a very curvy body type and my goal was to pick up a few things that I could wear on nights out with my bestie when she comes to visit or with James when he finally arrives Stateside because finding something for those occasions with what I currently own can be a bit of a struggle.

I ended up choosing three dresses, two pairs of pants, and two bodysuits. Their prices were super affordable and so were the shipping costs. I was also really pleasantly surprised by their return policy because I know a lot of these brands give you a hard time when you need to return something, but MissPap has you cover the shipping back and then gives you a full refund, which was super important to me as I wasn’t sure if anything was going to fit or how the quality was going to be once it arrived and I didn’t want to be stuck with pieces I don’t want.

My items all arrived in less than a week and in that time my excitement to try them on grew and grew. The day of their arrival I was refreshing the “out for delivery” page every ten minutes so I wouldn’t miss it.

My bag finally arrived and the first thing I noticed was the quote written on the top:

“People will stare, make it worth their while.”

I absolutely loved that little sentiment; it definitely made a great first impression on me.

So, without further adieu, here are the pieces I ordered with links, the sizes I ordered them in, and pictures of what they looked like fresh out of the bag:

Neoprene Extreme Ruched Trouser

Size 8

I absolutely LOVED THESE. They fit like an absolute glove and the fabric was so soft and stretchy. They are so comfortable; I cannot wait to wear them.

Because I had to order the bodysuit in a smaller size, it totally didn’t fit and therefore I didn’t even get a picture of it because I promptly put it back in the bag to return. However, the shorts were adorable. They were nice and roomy and I think will be perfect for the hot Florida summers.

This also fits amazingly well. It is QUITE revealing, but it made my boobs look incredible, so I’m not at all complaining. It is also very soft and stretchy and even though the photo doesn’t really do it any favors, it is the PRETTIEST light purple color.

This dress was amazing; the photos really do not do it justice. It looks ten times better on than it does on the hanger and it’s a bit wrinkled from being in the shipping bag, so it definitely needs a steam before I wear it, but OMG I AM IN LOVE. As with the pants, I loved the ruching detail and the suedette material - it definitely feels luxe to wear.

This dress was the thinnest and lightest of the three I ordered, but it still looked really nice on. I had an absolute whale of a time putting it on, though, because it has a hidden zipper on the side that I didn’t see until after I had already struggled for ten minutes to pull it over my head. Hahaha

This dress was the only thing in the order that didn’t fit true to size. I could get it on, but it was so tight that movements like lifting my arms above my head or sitting down were a struggle. I ended up returning it with the white bodysuit and ordering a size up.

But once the size 10 arrived, I loved it so much that I even took a picture in it - the only snap I took of the entire haul. This was my favorite dress of the three. So gorgeous on and it’s going to be so perfect for so many occasions. I am really glad I repurchased a size up!

So, my final thoughts on the whole experience are incredibly positive. The ordering and returning processes were both easy breezy and all but one item fit (I don’t count the bodysuit as it was a size too small and I knew that going into it). I am really impressed by MissPap. I loved every single piece I ordered and the fit and quality of each piece was surprisingly good. I will 100% be keeping these items and wearing them every chance I get. Truly, I couldn’t recommend them more and will absolutely be adding them to my favorites to purchase from again!

UPDATE: I thought it might be nice to pop in some pictures of the clothes as I get to wear them since I didn’t include try on pictures. I have since gotten the chance to wear the Poplin Ruched Front Long Sleeve Dress, so here’s a picture from a dinner out in the dress.

I hope you all enjoyed this post as it was a bit different from what I normally share, but I thought I’d bring you all along on this little shopping journey with me and I’m really glad I did. Let me know if there are other brands you’d like me to try out or that you recommend - I’d love to hear all your thoughts in the comments below.

Thanks again for following along on my life’s adventures, everyone! Catch you in the next one!
